Starting an Organization

A Student Involvement Fair is held at the beginning of each term, and representatives from various organizations are available to answer questions, sign up new members, and solicit feedback. Students who don’t find what they’re looking for among the many current organizations are encouraged to create one.

In addition to the organizations that are already active on campus, new groups are founded every year. Any group of two or more students interested in starting an organization on campus can register through the Office of Student Life. Once approved, groups are assigned a staff advisor and can request money for events or supplies, get advertising help, and answer any other questions they might have.

How Organizations are Funded

Every year, the College allocates funds to support the Student Activities Fund, which is overseen by the Budget and Events Committee in collaboration with Office of Student Life. At the beginning of each fall term, campus organizations submit their proposed budgets to Student Council, which then creates a tentative overall budget to divide the Budget and Events Committee, which makes decisions about the allocation of monies.
