Parnas/Serkin Trio to Perform at Bennington on Tuesday Evening, Oct. 6

Oct 05, 2009
Grammy Award-winning pianist Peter Serkin will join the young and gifted string players Madalyn and Cicely Parnas to perform piano trios by Beethoven, Ravel, and Brahms, on Tuesday, October 6, at 8:00 pm in Bennington's Deane Carriage Barn.

The event is free and open to the public.

Considered musical virtuosos by many, the Parnas sisters—violinist Madalyn, 18, and cellist Cicely, 16—have received critical acclaim in The New York Times, Albany-Times Union, Arizona Daily Sun, and elsewhere. They have recorded two highly acclaimed CDs, and in collaboration with Peter Serkin, once a child prodigy himself, they are now performing as the Parnas/Serkin Trio.

"The Parnas/Serkin Trio exemplifies the great legacy of Bennington—a place where master artists and new musical leaders learn and explore great chamber music together," said Polly van der Linde, a piano instructor at the College.
