Liz Lerman ’69 Awarded $50,000 Artist Grant

Choreographer Liz Lerman ’69 (at right, center) was one of 50 artists this year chosen to receive a $50,000 fellowship from United States Artists. The organization, which awards grants annually to outstanding visual, media, literary, and performing artists, called Lerman “a pioneer in making site-specific dances and including various communities in artistic and civic engagement projects.” Lerman, the founding director of Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, was awarded the prestigious MacArthur “Genius” Award in 2002.
