Located on the Bennington College campus in rural Vermont, the Center for the Advancement of Public Action (CAPA) is housed in a state-of-the-art facility designed by award-winning architects Tod Williams and Billie Tsien. The spirit of CAPA morphs the studio of the artist, the laboratory of the scientist, the think tank of the policy maker, and the town square of the citizen. It is a place for creativity and research, contemplation and action. The building welcomes participation from students, faculty, staff, the community, and guests from afar, housing two Design Labs, a Symposium space, modern apartments, and an interior courtyard. Informed by green building principles, CAPA's exterior is comprised of reclaimed Vermont marble, and its heating and cooling system is geothermal, a zero-emissions alternative.
