Language learning and community outreach

In view of sharing its resources and expertise, the Center offers assistance to the community in developing foreign language programs to children and adults or school districts.

The Early Childhood Center (ECC) at Bennington College is a lab for Bennington College students to participate in a dual-language program English/Spanish for the children of the ECC ages 2 to 6. Students may work in the ECC classrooms, teaching Spanish to strengthen their language skills.

The Community College of Vermont at Bennington (CCV). Students enrolled in CCV can avail themselves of foreign language courses at the Center. They receive CCV credit at CCV tuition but attend and participate in the Center’s programs.

Local High Schools. High school students who want to pursue their existing language studies or initiate the study of a new language can apply for enrollment in the Center’s foreign language program for the minimal cost of $100 per course.

ESL support for adults and children. This takes the form of conversation practice and academic help.

For information regarding the organization of such programs, please contact cmeyer@bennington.edu or ddayton@bennington.edu.
