Barry Bartlett, Ceramics
Bartlett's narrative sculptures in ceramic and mixed media explore the realm of socio-psychological conflicts, from evolution to warfare to suburban sprawl. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., including a solo show in 2002 at Gary Tatintsian Gallery in NYC, and a series of group shows at Maryland Art Place, MD, Baltimore Clayworks, MD, Islip Art Museum, NY and Neuberger Museum, NY. He has participated in national and international artist residencies and lectured in Portugal, the Dominican Republic, and England. He is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships in Visual Arts. He has also served on three advisory boards, for the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine, for Greenwich House Pottery, and the Center for Ceramics in New York. BFA, Kansas City Art Institute; MFA, Alfred University, New York State College of Ceramics. He was a faculty member in 1982-83 and has taught at Bennington since 1987.
