Nicholas Brooke, Music
Brooke has written a range of pieces for a range of instruments-oboe, rebab, piano, boombox, electroacoustics, spike fiddle, and others-which have been performed throughout the United States and in Indonesia. His opera Tone Test premiered at Lincoln Center in July 2004. He has been awarded numerous fellowships, residencies, and prizes, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Rockefeller Foundation residency, and an ASCAP Young Composer's Award. He has taught at the Oberlin Conservatory, Princeton University, Adelphi University, and Manhattan College. B.Mus., Oberlin Conservatory and College; MA, PhD, Princeton University; further studies at the University of Vienna and Schoenberg Institute and, on the Shansi Memorial Fellowship, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He has taught at Bennington since 2004.
