Liz Covey, Costume Design
Covey is a freelance costume designer. Her work has been seen at most of the major regional theatres across this country including ACT in San Francisco, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Merrimack Repertory Theatre, Studio Arena/Buffalo, Hartford Stage Company, Princeton’s McCarter Theatre, Denver Center Theater Company, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, The Folger Theatre, Philadelphia’s Walnut Street Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse/Milburn, NJ, Pearl Theatre/New York, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. A member of the faculty at Bennington from 1990 to 1996, she has taught at Barnard College/Columbia University, Marymount Manhattan, Penn State, Muhlenberg College and was an instructor for the Theatre Development Fund Intern Program for many years. Current and upcoming projects include Heartbreak House for Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Sherlock Holmes for Actors Theatre of Louisville; Biography for the Pearl Theatre/New York; The Constant Wife and 13 Rue De L’amour for the Olney Theatre Center. She was educated at Leicester College of Art, UK, and is co-author of two books on theatrical costume. Covey will be a visiting faculty member at Bennington for the fall term of 2006.
