An experienced teacher of French at all levels; Desrosiers has a special interest in the translation of poetry and prose, has a passion for literature and film, and is very interested in the art of teaching foreign languages. She has co-authored a text book En Direct on communicative activities, made presentations during conferences organized by AATF, MaFLA, and ACTFL particularly on pedagogy, classroom strategies, and understanding cultural differences. She has worked for ETS, as a reader of French Advanced Placement Language and Literature tests. In addition, Desrosiers has twice been the recipient of NEH scholarships; one took her to Senegal in West Africa to study the Literature and Geography, the other to Paris to examine “The Paris of Baudelaire, Balzac, and Flaubert.” A native of France, she first came to the United States on a Fulbright Scholarship to study and teach at Mount Holyoke College where she received a Master’s in American Literature. She pursued her studies in French with a concentration in 17th century-theatre and holds a Doctorate in French Literature and Language from the University of Massachusetts. She pursued her teaching career at Trinity College, Bennington College, and Williams College where she is presently a Lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages. She will be a visiting faculty member with the Isabelle Kaplan Center for Languages and Culture at Bennington for the Spring Term of 2008. More... |
