Christopher Edwards, Drama


Edwards, a director and actor, has been seen in the West End, Off-Broadway and in Regional Theater. He has worked at The New Victory Theater, The Atlantic Theater Co., La Mama ETC, Ubu Rep., The Flea Theater, SOHO Rep., The Guthrie Theatre, The Acting Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Cleveland Playhouse, American Stage, Stamford Theater Works, Penumbra Theater, The Illusion Theater, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and The Helix in Dublin, Ireland. He has had the privilege to work with such noted directors as Garland Wright, Joe Dowling, Doug Hughes, Mark Lamos, James Bundy, Malcolm Purkey, and Ping Chong. Some of his favorite roles include King Richard in Richard III, Macduff in Macbeth, Caliban in The Tempest, Leontes in A Winter’s Tale, Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Luciana in Bomb-itty of Errors, Morris in Blood Knot, Derek in A Mouthful of Birds, and Percy in Woza Albert. He has directed both contemporary and classical plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Master Harold…and the boys, Too Close to the Sun, with such theaters as The Lincoln Center Institute, The Walker Arts Center, St. Michael’s Playhouse, The University of Nevada Las Vegas, and The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, where he is currently the Director of Education. He is the Artistic Director of Point of Entry Theater in New York City. He has taught theater courses and workshops at The University of Minnesota, St. Michael’s College, The Acting Company, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s Acting Apprenticeship Program and Bennington College. He holds a BS from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas and an MFA from The University of Minnesota in Association with the Guthrie Theatre. He will be a visiting faculty member at Bennington for the Spring Term of 2008.
