Ron Krieser, Biology


Krieser's research has focused on the study of apoptosis, the way that cells in our body die during development, disease, and after toxic insults such as chemotherapy.  He has chosen to study this process using the genetic model system of Drosophila. His work on apoptosis has been published in such journals as The Journal of Biological Chemistry, Gene, and Cell Death and Differentiation, among others. He was awarded a National Research Service Award from NIH, and has been conducting a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Ron Krieser is from New England and earned degrees from Clark University (BA 1989) and Dartmouth College (PhD 1999). He will be a visiting faculty member at Bennington for the fall term of 2005.
