Scott Lehrer, Music/Sound


Scott Lehrer has done 3 decades of sound design and music production work in the theater, film, music and museum worlds. In 2007 he designed sound for the Charles Busch play Our Leading Lady at Manhattan Theatre Club and will design the Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific in 2008. Recent music production includes Hazmat Modine's debut CD Bahamut (nominated for BBC radio’s world music artists of the year award 2007) and Mark Bennett’s score for Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia. As a theatrical designer, Lehrer has worked on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Angels in America, The Heidi Chronicles and Sunday in the Park with George, along with over 100 other plays and musicals. He designed eleven seasons of Encores at New York's City Center, including the current Broadway revival of Chicago and was the sound supervisor for their Fall for Dance Festival 2004-2006. In 2002, he received the Lucille Lortel Award for Richard Nelson's play, Franny's Way. At his NYC studio 2nd Story Sound, Rufus Wainwright did tracking for his CD Release the Stars and Antony and the Johnsons have been recording for their new CD. Recent museum projects include The Griffith Observatory, Ann Hamilton’s installation at the Cabo Rojo lighthouse in Puerto Rico and the Detroit Institute of Arts. BA, Sarah Lawrence College.
