Carol Meyer, Director of Programs in Languages and Teacher Education


A teacher educator with a background in teaching languages, Meyer has presented papers at national conferences and worked with language teachers in areas including curriculum development, elementary-age language programs, assessment, and articulation. Presentations and articles include Experimenting with Conceptual Teaching at the Introductory Level and Puddlejumping: The Articulation Problem. Teacher training workshops include Structured Listening in the Language Classroom, Assessing Oral Skills, and Reading: Entry into Foreign Language Literacy. She has received several grants for training and development. Her research interests include integrating thought and language at all levels of language instruction and understanding how to design compelling educational experiences for teachers and students. She has taught at Bennington since 1995, became Director of the Isabelle Kaplan Center for Languages and Cultures in 2003 and Director of Programs in Languages and Teacher Education in 2006.
