Geoffrey Pigman, Political Economy


Pigman, currently Visiting Fellow at the Center for Global Change and Governance at Rutgers University, has lectured in International Political Economy at the University of Birmingham (UK) and was Director of Graduate Studies of the University of Kent/Brussels School of International Studies, based in Brussels. He was formerly Equity Research Liaison, CIBC World Markets in New York City and also worked as Political Economist at the Washington, DC, office of the law firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. His principal areas of research are contemporary diplomacy, trade politics, and foreign economic policymaking. He is writing a book on the World Economic Forum (Routledge Global Institutions series, forthcoming 2006). Upcoming research projects include a textbook on contemporary diplomacy, as well as conference papers on business interests in the WTO Doha Development Round and the G8, and the relationships between propaganda, lobbying and public diplomacy. He holds a BA from Swarthmore College, and MA from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a DPhil in International Relations from St. John’s College, Oxford University. He joined the Bennington faculty in the fall of 2005.
