Sue Rees, Media Arts/Design


Rees has exhibited her installations and video works in the U.S., Europe, Africa, India, and Australia, and has worked collaboratively with choreographers, directors, and musicians in the United States and Europe, including Kadmus Theater Studio; NAATCO; choreographers Creach/Company (receiving a 1991 "Bessie" Award for Running), Matteson + Nuggent, Amy Chavasse; composer Jonathan Bepler; videographer Cathy Weis; theater directors Jean Randich, Annie Kaufman, Pam MacKinnon, theatre director Ken Russel Schmoll and lighting designer Garin Marschall on performances of 13p and Clubbed Thumb; Elizabeth Swados on Jabu (nominated for a Henry Hewes Design Award 2005) and playwright Len Jenkin. She has received grants and commissions from a number of sources, including a Fulbright Research Grant to study temple festivals in India; an Irish Museum of Modern Art residency; Yaddo residencies; USIS for a residency in Uganda; a Bemis Foundation grant, and numerous grants from the Vermont Arts Council.
