Faculty Member Susan Sgorbati’s Emergent Improvisation Project (January 22, 2007) [Read more.] Bennington magazine, May 2005: Sgorbati is the first recipient of the new David G. Rahr Vermont Community Service Award. Presented by the Vermont Community Foundation, the award recognizes “a Vermonter who works behind the scenes, is guided by a sense of purpose and adds value and vision to community-building.” Bennington magazine, May 2004: Sgorbati has an ongoing residency with an improvisation ensemble of dancers and musicians at the Flynn Theatre in Burlington,VT. Quantum Leap, the program she founded with Danny Michaelson for at-risk adolescents, was named a “best practice” by the Vermont Agency of Human Services. Quantum Leap is a model for the entire southern Vermont region; interest in the program has also spread to schools in New York City, Rochester, NY, and Bellefountaine, OH.
