Luyanda Sidiya, Dance Guest Artist

Sidiya, a native of the township of Sebokeng in Vereeniging, South Africa, has worked with Moving into Dance Mophatong since 2000, first completing their Community Dance Teachers Training Course and then becoming a company member. As a performer and teacher with the company, he has toured to Zimbabwe, Botswana, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Finland, Italy, and Luxembourg, often facilitating dance workshops for professional dancers. Recent projects include solo performances and workshops at the 35th Kuopio Dance Festival, Kuopio, Finland; solo performances at the Jomba Festival, Durban, South Africa; choreography for a youth group in Sedibeng/Vaal Triangle, South Africa; and choreography for the 2006 Dance Umbrella Festival, Johannesburg, South Africa. He presently co-teaches with Gregory Vuyani Maqoma in South Africa and abroad and will co-teach with Maqoma as a dance guest artist at Bennington in Spring 2007.
