Fall 2006: Perez attended the Annual Conference of GEMELA (Grupo de Estudios sobre la Mujer en España y las Américas [Pre-1800]) at Georgetown University, October, 2006 where she presented a paper entitled "A Question of Honour.” Her article “Vida i sucesos de la Monja Alférez: Spanish Dictatorship, Basque Identity, and the Tug-of-War over a Political Heroine” was accepted for publication at the Bulletin of Hispanic Studies (University of Liverpool, UK).

Bennington magazine, May 2005: Villanueva attended the 8th biannual conference of the Asociación de Escritoras de España y las Américas (1300–1800) in Houston, where she presented a paper entitled “Vida i sucesos de la Monja Alférez: Spanish Dictatorship, Basque Identity, and the Tug-of-War over a Political Heroine.”
