Shunzhu Wang, Chinese


A translator and a scholar of comparative literature, Wang (PhD) has published in Chinese as well as in English on such subjects as Chinese culture and literature, American literature, Asian-American literature, literary criticism, and film. He is the coeditor of the volumes Contemporary Western Rhetoric: Critical Methods and Paradigms, and Contemporary Western Rhetorican: Speech and Discourse Criticism, published by the Press of China Social Science Academy. He is the cofounder of the journal Pudu Fenghua and has translated fiction and essays from English into Chinese-most notably, winning a national prize in China for his version of Kate Chopin's story "The Kiss." He has been a referee for MOSAIC, and has received fellowships from Purdue Research Foundation and Wayne State College, where he has also taught. He has taught at Bennington since 1999.
