Bruce Weber, Evolution
Known for both basic research in protein chemistry and for studies on historical/philosophical analysis of conceptual development of evolutionary and bioenergetics theories from the perspective of complex systems dynamics, Weber has published more than 50 articles in various journals and scholarly books. He has also coauthored or coedited five books, including Darwinism Evolving, Evolution and Learning, and Wandering in the Gardens of the Mind. He is particularly interested in problems of emergence (of life and of consciousness) and exploring complexity as a paradigm change that could bring arts and sciences into discourse. He was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society (London) in 1995. He is the recipient of several awards for outstanding teaching and service to students at CSUF as well as the California State University Andreoli Award in 2001 for outstanding contributions to biotechnology research and teaching. Woodworth Chair in Science and Natural Philosophy at Bennington since 2001.
