Ikuko Yoshida, Japanese
In addition to teaching Japanese, Yoshida is certified in the art of traditional Japanese flower arranging and is also a ski instructor thereby adapting the Japanese motto, “Be both a good warrior and a good scholar,” to her own purposes. She has received numerous Traditional Arts Apprenticeship grants from the Vermont Folklife Center. Her papers include “Collaboration, Integration, and Connection between EFL and JFL Classroom for Cultural Understanding” and “Using and Making Broadcasting Programs in the Language Curriculum.” BA, Kanazawa Women’s College; MAT, Saint Michael’s College. She joined the Bennington faculty of the Isabelle Kaplan Center for Languages and Cultures in 1998.
