MFA in Performing Arts: Drama

The MFA program in drama is designed for students interested in directing and/or design who wish to intensify and deepen their craft. Bennington offers multiple performance venues with various levels of production capability, a professional faculty covering a range of theatrical disciplines, and a talented undergraduate student body.

The College encourages applications from mid-career directors and designers who wish to refine and enrich their artistry. In evaluating applicants, the College looks for self-motivated candidates who demonstrate strong technical skills, articulate a clear line of inquiry within a tutorial structure, and propose work that takes the best advantage of Bennington’s faculty and facilities. Prior teaching experience is recommended, as candidates may teach introductory classes or workshops under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
