Timothy Liu, Poetry


Liu's books of poems are For Dust Thou Art: Poems (Southern Illinois Press, 2005), Of Thee I Sing (University of Georgia, 2004), Hard Evidence (Talisman House, 2001), Say Goodnight (Copper Canyon, 1998), Burnt Offerings (Copper Canyon, 1995), and Vox Angelica (Alice James, 1992). His poetry has appeared in American Letters and Commentary, Field, Grand Street, Harvard Review, The Nation, Ploughshares, Paris Review, Salmagundi, and Sulfur, among others. Reviews, articles, and essays of his have appeared in Publisher's Weekly, Art Papers, Lambda Book Report, New Art Examiner, Harvard Review, and elsewhere. He edited the anthology, Word of Mouth: An Anthology of Gay American Poetry (Talisman, 2000), and his work has been featured in anthologies that include Asian-American Poetry: The Next Generation, Best American Poetry, American Diaspora: Poetry of Displacement, A Day for a Lay: A Century of Gay Poetry, and many others. He took a BA from Brigham Young University and an MA from the University of Houston, and has taught at the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina, and presently teaches at William Paterson University. He lives in Hoboken, New Jersey.
