Moodys novels are Purple America (Little Brown, 1996), The Ice Storm (Little Brown, 1994), and Garden State (Pushcart, 1992). His novels have been published in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Portugal. He has published a memoir, The Black Veil, a book of short stories, The Ring of Brightest Angels Around Heaven (Little Brown, 1996), and was coeditor (with Darcey Steinke) of an anthology of essays, Joyful Noise: The New Testament Revisited. Moody received a BA from Brown University and a MFA from Columbia. He has taught at SUNY Purchase and at The New School, and recently received a fellowship from the Guggenheim Foundation. He lives on Fishers Island, New York.
