Types of Aid: Postbaccalaureate and Graduate Students
Following are the various forms of financial assistance Bennington College awards to postbaccalaureate and graduate students. Grants A Bennington Teaching Grant may be awarded to MAT students with demonstrated financial need. MAT students may also participate in the federal TEACH grant program. A small number of alumni-funded awards are offered to outstanding applicants to the Low-Residency MFA in Writing Program. Assistantships A limited number of assistantships may be awarded through the Dean’s Office to MFA students in Music, Drama, or Dance, and to MAT students working in the Quantum Leap program or at the Early Childhood Center. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions. Loans The federal Stafford student loan is the primary loan resource for most postbaccalaureate and graduate students. Federal Grad PLUS loans may be available to MFA or MAT students if the Stafford loan will not cover expenses; parents of dependent postbaccalaureate students may borrow a federal PLUS loan. Postbaccalaureate students and graduate students may also depend on private alternative loans, but such loans typically will need a co-signer. For more information, click here, and to compare and apply for loans, click here. Low-Residency Programs Low-Residency MFA in Writing and MATSL students can borrow an amount covering the cost of tuition, residency, and an allowance for books, supplies, and transportation. Living costs during the period of non-residency are not covered by loans or other aid. |
