The Bennington Collective is the brainchild of Carol Greenhouse (Jan. 98, Fiction) but belongs since 1 August, 1998, to any graduate of the Bennington Writing Seminars wanting to take part. We'll open our doors to new members next in May of 2006.

This is a self-run e-mail workshop, not formally attached to Bennington College or to the alumni organization. Writers in the Collective have deadlines every month, nine months of the year. Historically our pattern is that 30-40 of us start with sober commitments on the 1st of August and then get through the winter as best we can. About fifteen of us continue year after year. Some have been at it for running on eight years now.

Our anchor people are: Carolyn Scarbrough (Jan. 98, Poetry), Robin Neidorf (Jan. 96, Nonfiction), Paul Eberly (June 2001, Fiction), and William Males (Jan. 98, Fiction).
