Aadya Bedi '01
Aadya Bedi '01 grew up in Mumbai where she was involved in theatre, film, and television for several years. She completed her BA from Bennington College with a focus in anthropology and theatre. After completing an MFA from the University of Iowa, she moved to New York City and has worked on productions and workshops at prestigious award-winning theatres such as Manhattan Theatre Club (American Pilot), The Vineyard & New York Theatre Workshop (Meantime), Playwright’s Horizon (Elsewhere, The Huntsmen), as well as the Culture Project (George Packer's Betrayed, which won the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Play 2008). Regionally, she was nominated for a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work at The Wilma’s Scorched (Wajdi Mouawad). The cast of Scorched won the Barrymore Award for Outstanding Ensemble 2009. She played Soraya in the stage adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, co-produced by The Actor’s Theatre of Louisville and The Cleveland Playhouse. She has also performed at the Kennedy Center in DC, Williams College, and New York Stage & Film at Vassar, to name a few. Internationally, she has worked on collaborations with the Royal Court Theatre and Writer’s Bloc and performed in Jon Fosse’s Death Variations in Shanghai, China. Her film and television credits include Fireflies, Koel, Geetanjali, Split Wide Open, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Grant Street Shaving Co., Chand Sitare (dir. Kamini Kaushal, Doordarshan), Betrayed (PBS), and several short films.
