This course will focus on the use of model organisms to advance the study of apoptosis, or cell death. Included will be discussions of important research articles in the field that use C. elegans, Drosophila, and mouse, and how the studies of these organisms can shed light into the pathology of certain diseases in humans. In addition to class lectures, paper presentations, and discussions, each student will be expected to work on a research project using one of the systems that we will discuss.
