We will read novels, nonfiction, diaries mostly (but not exclusively) by English writers who have made major contributions to 20th-century English fiction, and whose writing reflects their own experiences in one of the two World Wars. Reading will include Siegfried Sassoon, Primo Levi, Evelyn Waugh, Anthony Powell, Jocelyn Brooke, and secondary material.
