Theoretical ethics aim to uncover the sources of moral knowledge and the foundations of moral obligation. You will engage in a detailed critical reading of four moral theories represented by the following philosophers: Aristotle, Hume, Kant, and Mill. You will also consider recent critical literature on these theories. Course performance is evaluated by class participation, a class presentation, and essays.
