Introduction to Cognitive Neuroscience: Mind_brain
F05
David LaBerge
In this course, we will examine the relationships of brain activity to everyday mental life. Recent developments of neurobiological methods (e.g., brain imaging studies) reveal particular patterns of activity in the brain while an individual is engaged in a particular mental task. To promote an understanding of these activity patterns, this course first examines the structure of neurons and their interconnections, and then emphasizes the ways that groups of many neurons act together to express mental events, such as perception, thoughts, feelings, attention, decisions, and language. Also considered are the ways in which brain injury and disease affect brain/mind function.
