“Jyunai,” translated as “pure/genuine love,” has gained popularity as one of the most prevalent themes in contemporary Japanese literature, television dramas, and films. In this course, students will examine jyunai, particularly as it is represented in the popular novel and film entitled Ima Aini Yukimasu. They will also examine contemporary Japanese society and analyze the rising popularity of jyunai among the Japanese people. Intermediate/high-intermediate level.
