Morals in Japanese Folk Tales

Learn Japanese through Japanese folk tales. Students in this course will continue to learn Japanese through an examination of folk tales, analyzing various characteristics such as the cultural and moral elements they reflect. Students will also continue to develop their skills in interacting in Japanese by stating and supporting their opinions in discussions focusing on narrative texts. Recounting the stories to local Japanese children will be an active component of this course. Approximately 60 new kanji will be introduced. As the final project of the course, students will write their own folk tales in Japanese. This course is a continuation of Acting in Japanese.
