Scenes from Dramatic Literature: Ibsen, Shaw, and O’Neill

Investigate the worlds of Henrik Ibsen, Bernard Shaw, and Eugene O’Neill by bringing their characters to life. In this advanced scene study class, students will read selected plays in addition to biographies, period research materials, and critical reviews of various work and productions of their plays. Several film versions of material will also be viewed and discussed during the term. The bulk of expected class work will be in the form of extensive out-of-class rehearsal with scene partners. Students can expect this to amount to six hours of out-of-class rehearsal time per week. Performance presentations of class exploration can be expected at Drama Forum during the term.
