Socrates
F05
Karen Gover
Socrates, the founding figure of Western philosophy, continues to beguile, intrigue, and provoke those who encounter him now almost as much as he did in his own day. This course provides an introduction to philosophy and to philosophical argumentation by taking up the question “Who is Socrates?”. Readings consist of selected Platonic dialogues as well as works by Aristophanes, Xenophon, Kierkegaard, and Nietzsche.
