Popular culture is a great way to study not only a language but a culture. In this continuation of Performing Real-World Italian, we will concentrate on songs and movies. What makes popular music in Italy different from that of America? Are there any similarities? Why do films from Italy seem so “local” and realistic compared to American movies? Are the subtitles always transmitting the nuances correctly? Students will also continue to develop their skills in performing in Italian by acting out scenes, learning to state their opinions, and using narrative. Video work will be an active component of the course. As a final project in the course, students will create their own Italian video narrative.
