OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Brenda Shaughnessy and Peter Trachtenberg will read as part of the Writers Reading Series.

Brenda Shaughnessy is the author of four poetry collections, most recently So Much Synth and Our Andromeda (Copper Canyon Press,) a New York Times’ 100 Notable Book and a finalist for the Griffin International Prize. Her other books are Human Dark with Sugar and Interior with Sudden Joy. Her poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, Harper's, McSweeney’s, The Nation, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, The Penguin Book of Twentieth Century Poetry, and elsewhere. She’s a 2013 Guggenheim Foundation Fellow and received a 2018 Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. An Associate Professor of English/Creative Writing at Rutgers University-Newark, her fifth collection,The Octopus Museum, is forthcoming from Knopf in April 2019.

Peter Trachtenberg is the author of 7 TattoosThe Book of Calamities, and Another Insane Devotion, a 2012 New York Times Editors’ Choice. His essays, journalism, and short fiction have appeared in The New YorkerHarper’sA Public SpaceBidoun, and The New York Times' travel magazine, with work forthcoming in The Virginia Quarterly Review and Story Quarterly. His honors include the Whiting Award, the Nelson Algren Award for Short Fiction, a Guggenheim fellowship, and a residency at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center. He is an associate professor in the writing program of the University of Pittsburgh.
