Is Computer Science a Science?
Science Workshop–Fall 2017
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC | Join Bennington College faculty member Ursula Wolz for a discussion on whether or not computer science is science. Even computer scientists aren’t sure. Computers have become ubiquitous in modern culture, influencing the way we communicate, how we think, and how we determine what is true. Yet among computer scientists there is little agreement on what exactly it is we do, much less teach, nor what it takes to be a computer scientist. In this talk I will raise the question of whether computer scientists follow a scientific method, and raise the further question of whether there is even a clearly defined method.
