Tishman Lecture Hall Bennington College

For many years, a select group of dancers, musicians, and designers have collaborated with choreographer Susan Sgorbati on a series of experimental performances. These performances were realized through an exchange of ideas between those moving, Susan Sgorbati, and scientists Stuart Kauffman and Gerald Edelman.

In time, this exchange extended the possibilities of both dance and science on the subject of improvisation. In 2006, Sgorbati invited filmmaker Elliot Caplan to join in this work and make a film. There will be a Pre-Screening Discussion with some of the dancers in the film about their improvisational practice on Saturday, September 24th at 8:00 PM in Tishman. This will be followed by the Premiere Screening of this film at 8:30 PM.
