Quick Facts: Requirements and Deadlines

Requirements

  • Total needed: One FWT for each year of full-time undergraduate matriculation.
  • Hours: A total of 210 hours in no more than four approved positions are required to complete FWT.
  • Registration: All jobs must be registered with the FWT and Career Development Office through WorkLink no later than November 20, 2009. Academic advisors must approve registration forms online by December 4, 2009.
  • Conditional registration: Conditionally approved registrations must be completed by December 11, 2009, or they will be considered late.
  • Late registration: Late registrations (not additional jobs added to an on-time registration) will not be accepted after January 14, 2010. Students not registered by this time will receive a failing grade. Students registering late after the end of fall term, but before January 14, will be eligible to receive a Marginal Pass only.
  • Employer's evaluation: Employers' evaluations are completed online through the WorkLink system and are due February 26, 2010.
  • Essay: a 750- to 1,250-word (3–5 pages) essay is due February 26, 2010.

Deadlines

  • October 21: Grant applications due
  • October 30: Independent study proposals due
  • November 4: Early registration party
  • November 13: Extension requests due
  • November 20: Registration deadline—Students who register after this date will be fined $50, unless they have received an extension. Late registration is noted on the transcript and may affect the student’s FWT rating.
  • December 4: Deadline for academic advisors to approve FWT registration
  • December 4: Registration deadline for students with approved extensions—Students with approved extensions who register after this date will be fined $50. Late registration is noted on the transcript and may affect the student’s FWT rating.
  • December 10: FWT information packets distributed—All registered students will receive, at their Bennington e-mail addresses, FWT packets that include important FWT information. All supervisors registered by students will be e-mailed and asked to log into WorkLink to confirm their contact and position information and to agree to supervise students for FWT. Students should check with supervisors to make sure they have received and responded to this e-mail.
  • December 11: Last day to register late ($50 fine)—All students who register after this date will be fined $50 and will not be eligible for a full pass.
  • January 4: FWT begins
  • January 14: Last day to register for FWT ($50 fine, no longer eligible for full pass)—Students not registered by this date will receive a failing grade.
  • January 22: Last day to add a position
  • February 19: Last day of FWT
  • February 26: Essays and employers’ evaluations due
  • March 5: Essays (with extensions) due
  • March 12: Independent study evaluations due
  • May 20: Last day late evaluations for temporary incompletes accepted
  • May 20: Registration for summer make-ups and Elective Summer Field Experiences due
  • June 21–August 6: Summer FWT dates
  • August 20: Essays and evaluations for summer make-ups due
  • September 24: Summer grades due
