Position Title:
Environmental Studies Coordinator
Department:
Office of the Provost/Dean of the College
Position Description:
The Environmental Studies Coordinator will develop and
coordinate an Environmental Studies Program for the College.
This newly created position will contribute vitally to the
organization and integration of the program’s various efforts and
elements. The Environmental Studies Coordinator will provide
day-to-day oversight and coordination of the program and will
report directly to the Provost and Dean of the College. This
versatile position will require some combination of
administrative ability, an understanding of the environmental
sciences, and experience in the making of public policy, teaching
and conducting research. Specifically, the environmental studies
coordinator will:
· work with faculty to develop and coordinate related
curriculum as well as design and teach courses of their
own
· facilitate a comprehensive interaction between the College
and the world – bringing people into the College and cultivating
opportunities for students outside of it including internships
· exploit the potential for the physical campus to become a
laboratory for environmental studies by engaging with a number of
current environmentally driven projects and by developing
others
· pursue optimal uses of technology to maximize communication
within the College and beyond
· work with the library and technical services to collect,
organize, and distribute information related to environmental
issues
· work with other College offices to obtain external funding
for environmental initiatives
A strong applicant will have an advanced degree in a
pertinent field, applied experience in some arena of
environmental problem-solving, teaching experience,
administrative experience and demonstrated success in obtaining
outside funding. The coordinator is a full-time, year-round
position.
