The New York Times calls Holland Taylor ’64 'Grande Dame' of TV

The New York Times chronicles Holland Taylor’s '64 acclaimed acting career as she eyes a move from Los Angeles to New York and plans to mount a one-woman play about former Gov. Ann Richards of Texas, one of her personal heroes. Taylor calls it "gathering myself for my own third act."

The Times lauds Taylor's ability to portray "strong, accomplished, sometimes intimidating characters," such as Evelyn Harper – the overbearing matriarch she currently plays on the CBS comedy Two and a Half Men – for which she has earned three Emmy nominations. Her work as a judge on the television series The Practice won her an Emmy for best supporting actress in 1999.
