Join Lord Holme, A Leader in the Democratic Party of the UK, For A Conversation at Bennington College
October 4, 2005 Richard Holme, Lord of Cheltenham, a leader in the Liberal Democratic Party of the United Kingdom, chairman of Lead International and The Royal African Society, arrives at Bennington College this week to assume his role as the new chair of the advisory committee for the Democracy Project, a recently launched curricular initiative at the College. Bennington President Elizabeth Coleman will use an interview-style format to lead a discussion with Lord Holme, allowing him to cover a breadth of topics ranging from the role of the corporate sector as a catalyst for change to his personal involvement in the peace efforts in Northern Ireland and in South Africa's democratic transition. This event will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 8:00 pm, in Usdan Gallery, in the College's Visual and Performing Arts Center (VAPA). The evening is free and open to the public. Richard Holme first came to Bennington last March for the Living Democracy: Perspectives from South Africa conference and has long been involved with academia, business, and politics. In addition to his new role at Bennington, Lord Holme, who was educated at Oxford and the Harvard Business School, is chancellor of the University of Greenwich, a visiting professor at the Thunderbird Business School in Arizona, and chairman and co-founder of the English College in Prague.
