Critically Acclaimed Dance Piece "Fare Well" Performed at Bennington College

New York Bessie Award-winning dancers Paul Matteson MFA ’07 and Jennifer Nugent return to Bennington College to perform their critically acclaimed hour-long dance piece, "Fare Well." The performance, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the College’s Martha Hill Dance Theater, Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8, 2006, at 8:00 pm.

"Fare Well" which was described by The New York Times as, "That rare work that lives up to its advance billing," explores parallel voices reflecting fate’s uncertainties. Nugent and Matteson develop the imperfect mess of reality and illustrate how "staying the course" can lead to new places with movement that is both quirky and surprising, coupled with inconsistent timing and a tender logic.

"Fare Well" is a collaborative performance piece that includes a score by Edmund Mooney, costumes by Naoko Nagata, lighting design by Garin Marschall, and a set design by visual arts faculty member, Sue Rees. The set manipulates light reflected through semi-transparent curtains, creating and defining an interior space that evades time and place.
