Bennington College Presents the Spring Social Science Colloquium
Bennington College presents its spring 2007 Social Science Colloquium. With emphasis on Vermont’s role in national, local and global politics, the schedule includes presentations from relevant and influential speakers in the historical and socio-political arena with discussions ranging from the anthropological to the political history of Vermont and its role in the future of the nation. Bennington College invites the public to enjoy the performance of The Curiously Strong Winds, a cutting-edge, new music wind quintet, on Friday, March 23, 2007, at 8:00 pm in the College’s Greenwall Auditorium, VAPA. The performance is free and open to the public. An assembly of faculty members from the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College, Princeton University, and The Haart School of Music, the Curiously Strong Winds will express a deeper appreciation for the importance of new work, performing compositions created by Bennington students specifically for their performance at the College. Members of this wind quintet have played in premier New York ensembles, including Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Speculum Musicae, Meridian Arts Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, and others, with recent appearances at the Bang on a Can Marathon, Bard Festival, and Lukas Foss’ East Hamptons Festival. |
