Architectural Digest Ranks Bennington Among 10 U.S. Colleges with Best Architecture

Aug 05, 2011

Bennington was named one of "ten college campuses with the best architecture" by Architectural Digest this week, joining a list that includes Harvard, Yale, MIT, Brown, Cornell, and the University of Virginia, among others.

"The open-minded students and teachers who occupy these 550 wooded acres at the foot of the Green Mountains interact in buildings by Robertson Ward (Visual and Performing Arts Center, Dickinson Science Building), Pietro Belluschi and Carl Koch (Crossett Library, pictured right), Kyu Sung Woo (Perkins, Merck, Paris-Borden Houses), and Edward Larrabee Barnes (Fels, Noyes, Sawtell Houses). The latest addition to the campus is the Center for the Advancement of Public Action, three buildings constructed of local materials nestled into a sloping site designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects."
