Associate Director of Field Work Term and Career Development

Image of Michael GonzalesMichael provides tailored advising to students and alumni to help students maximize experiential learning opportunities towards the advancement of their life’s work. Michael evaluates student proposals for independent studies, entrepreneurial projects, professional training programs, and special partnership programs. He also coordinates key aspects of FWT registration, special circumstance accommodations, and FWT assessment. Michael assists students with self-reflection related to FWT and supports students’ integrative learning on their return from FWT. 

Michael is a PhD candidate in Urban Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a BA in urban and architectural studies from the University of California, Riverside. During his time at UC Berkeley, Michael directed an international summer education program for over 230 college-aged students from China, Italy, France, and Canada. He was a visiting faculty member at Hampshire College between 2014 and 2017, and served students as an Academic and Civic Engagement Advisor in this role.
