Transportation Options

If you will arrive by plane, train, or bus into Albany, New York, and wish to reserve transportation to the Bennington campus, please submit the Transportation Options form by August 1 or at your earliest convenience. 

Shuttle Fee: The following fees include up to two bags; $10 for each additional bag.

  • Before August 1, $35 per person;
  • After August 1, $45 per person.

Your shuttle-fee payment is due with your reservation—checks can be mailed to the Office of Student Life, Attn: Shuttle Reservations.


Please note that there is a lot to do to prepare for a new academic year. Students who arrive before the designated arrival days will be responsible for finding their own accommodations off campus. There will be no exceptions to this policy. In the coming months, we will provide you more specific information about when our campus will be ready to welcome you!

Check in for International Student Orientation begins at 1pm on August 29.

Move-in Day is Thursday, September 1 for our domestic students. For students whose family name starts from A to L, you are scheduled to check in between 9:00 am and 10:30 am and for students whose family name starts between M to Z, check in is between 10:30 am and 12 noon.  

Once you arrive on campus, please follow the sign to the Student Center where you check in. You will go through a resource fair and pick up your keys and orientation package, then move into your house. Your orientation package will include your schedule, so make sure to check it out and get excited! 

If you are driving, please park your vehicle in the Ohio Lot which is right behind to the Student Center. You can then move your vehicle near your house to unload. 

Don’t worry if you can’t make it before noon! Students who arrive after 12 noon can check in with the Residence Life Office in UpCaf, on the second floor of the Student Center. Our orientation program starts at 2:00 pm.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR INCOMING STUDENTS AND PARENTS

General Information

Housing 

  • Housing placement can be found via your new Bennington email address
  • All rooms come with a bed (Twin XL mattress), dresser, bookshelf and desk for each student, with a shared closet.
  • Beds are height adjustable if you want to place storage bins beneath them.
  • International Student Move-In day: August 29-30.
  • New First Year and Transfer Student Move-In day: September 1st.  
  • There are hotels and motels available nearby if you decide to come to town prior to the move-in dates, however you must be 18 years or older to stay without a family member.

PACKAGES 

  • You may send a package prior to your arrival and can retrieve it at the packaging department located in Buildings & Grounds. 
  • If you are a first-year student and will be shipping things to Bennington prior to your arrival, “Incoming Student” must follow your full name for the package to be received here. 
  • All packages must be sent to One College Drive, Bennington, VT, 05201 with your first and last name.  
  • Packages do not get delivered to student dorms and those living in off-campus housing must use the college address, otherwise the package will not be delivered.

STUDENT LIFE 

  • International Student Orientation takes place August 31-September 1.
  • New First-Year and Transfer Student Orientation takes place September 1-5. 
  • Convocation takes place September 6. 
  • The get-inclusive module will be available on August 15, a separate email will be sent to your Bennington account. 
  • Save the date for Fall Weekend: Oct 1-2, further details will be provided in time.

CAMPUS SAFETY 

  • If you are an incoming or transfer student bringing a vehicle for the upcoming year, you must register your vehicle with campus safety. 
  • There will be a booth at the resource fair providing car registration information.
  • During move-in day, please park in the Ohio Lot.
