Avery Glymph is a New York-based Actor, Teacher, and Director with extensive experience on Broadway, with Regional Tony Award-winning theatre companies, and in numerous Film and Television roles.

Biography

Originally from Washington, D.C., Glymph is a New York-based actor, teacher, and director who received his BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and MFA from the George Washington University’s Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy. As an actor, his New York credits include Life of Pi, The Skin of Our Teeth with Lincoln Center Theater, and the Public Theater’s production of The Tempest, all on Broadway. Other New York credits include The Public Theater/NY Shakespeare Festival, Roundabout Theatre Company, The Working Theater, New Georges, and The Drama Dept. Regional credits include leading roles with City Theater Company, Roundhouse Theatre, Syracuse Stage, Shakespeare Theater Company, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Baltimore Center Stage, Northern Stage, Actors Theater of Louisville, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Cleveland Playhouse, PlayMakers Rep, TheaterWorks Hartford, The Old Globe, Contemporary American Theatre Festival, Crossroads Theater Company (Tony Award Season), and Cape Fear Regional Theatre.

Glymph has extensive credits on Film and in network Television.  As a director, he has led productions of As You Like It at Montclair State University, Lydia Diamond’s Stick Fly at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and is a proud member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers.

Glymph is a visiting faculty member at Bennington for Fall 2024.
