Eddy Leonel Aldana is a Latinx artist whose work examines his family’s place in the Guatemalan diaspora, and how colonialism and U.S. intervention created a climate for displacement during his family’s lifetime.

 

Biography

Aldana is a Latinx artist originally from Germantown, Maryland and his video and photographic work examines his family’s place in the Guatemalan diaspora. His work also explores how colonialism and U.S. intervention have created a climate for displacement, emigration, and deportation along with exploring uncertainty, loss, and absence during his family’s lifetime. In 2022, he received his MFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and in 2017, he received his BFA from the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University.

He joined Bennington as a Technical Instructor in Photography in Fall 2023.
